About Caledonian Research Foundation
Caledonian Research Foundation (CRF) was originally established in 1977 as a spinout from a scientific research organisation and as a charity. Since 1990 its interest has been mainly in sponsoring and encouraging research in Scotland.
Following detailed discussions between the CRF's Governors and the Royal Society of Edinburgh, in March 2009 the CRF transferred its portfolio of activities and assets to the RSE Scotland Foundation. As a result the CRF's charitable objectives are now met through the RSE Scotland Foundation and the Royal Society of Edinburgh delivers CRF activities within the wider portfolio of the Society's activities. To ease the transition, three of the CRF's Governors became RSE Scotland Foundation Trustees until 2012.
