The RSE Scotland Foundation was established in 1996 and is a charitable body connected to the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

The charitable purpose of the Foundation is to advance the education of the public in Scotland in science, engineering or technology. Events organisers are therefore welcome to hold events that align with this purpose, or with the Royal Society of Edinburgh's wider charitable purpose of advancing learning and useful knowledge. The Foundation also permits limited use of its facilities for other events.
