Help Create a Sustainable Environment

The Foundation and the Royal Society of Edinburgh recognise the sustainability issues related to waste, water and energy management, and are committed to taking all reasonable practicable measures to contribute to a sustainable environment.

To help us achieve this we would very much appreciate the help of visitors to the building. You can help us by:

Recycling any waste - none of our conference / meeting rooms have any waste disposal units. These are located at different stations throughout the building. Our staff would be happy to show you where these are, or to arrange for any waste you have to be moved to a station.
Switching off the lights - only use the lights if you absolutely have to, and if you see one on that's not needed, switch it off.
Turning down the heating - if the room you are in is too warm turn down the heating, or ask one of our staff to do so.
Saving water - only use what you need and minimise the length of time you let a tap run.
