Wolfson Lecture Theatre

This theatre on the ground floor of the building, and created with the support of the Wolfson Foundation, forms the core of the conference facility.

It is fully air-conditioned and accommodates 145 people in comfort.  Additionally, there is space for two wheelchairs.  

The theatre is equipped with the latest presentation technology.  A touch screen panel enables the speaker to control all equipment and lighting or an audio visual technician can be made available to control the equipment from the projection room.  

The equipment includes data and video projector, dual slide projector, radio microphones and a full induction loop system for those with hearing difficulties. 

Wellcome East Take a virtual tour of Wellcome East

This room is is spacious, bright and elegant, with large windows and brass chandeliers. It can accommodate up to 60 people theatre style or 40 at round tables for lunches or dinners. There is an adjacent servery linked by lift to the main kitchen.

The room connects with Wellcome West to provide maximum flexibility and an attractive setting for smaller conferences and seminars. Audio-visual facilities and an induction loop are available. This room is served by a passenger lift which will accommodate a wheelchair.

The traditional atmosphere of this large room lends itself well to receptions and dinners. It has its own servery adjacent to facilitate this use. The capacity is up to 100 seated for dinner and up to 150 for a reception

The room has also been designed to meet the needs of modern presentations and may be used theatre style by approximately 80 people. Portable audio -visual equipment and an induction loop are available.

Kelvin Room 
The Kelvin Room - named after one of the Society's 19th century Presidents - with its wall hangings of Utrecht velvet, provides a useful adjunct to the larger conference or can be used independently for small formal meetings
The large board room table accommodates 18 people but can be divided to allow the room to be reconfigured for other purposes. 
James Clerk Maxwell Room 

This room on the ground floor, adjacent to the reception hall is ideal for use as a conference office, green room or syndicate group space.

The board room table for small meetings seats up to 15 people. 

Upper Gallery

The Upper Gallery opens out directly from the Wolfson Lecture Theatre and is also accessible from the reception hall or the Meeting Room.  Its clean modern design and natural lighting from the partly glazed roof render it ideal for use for exhibitions and poster displays, as a coffee or breakout room for the theatre, or for lunches and receptions held alongside events in the theatre.

The Upper Gallery audio visual  facilities can be used independently or in conjunction with the lecture theatre.  The Upper Gallery is fully air-conditioned. 

Swann Room

The Swann Room, situated on the lower ground floor, can be set up in theatre or classroom style.  It is highly suitable for training courses, seminars or for syndicate or breakout groups.

It seats 50 in theatre style or 30 when set out as a classroom and features an air handling system, an induction loop and audio visual links to the Wolfson Theatre. 

Lower Gallery 

The lower gallery is linked by a spiral staircase to the Upper Gallery. 

It is also connected to the Swann Room, giving it a variety of possible uses including exhibitions, breakout or receptions, either on its own or in combination with other rooms.  It can be used independently as a comfortable seminar room for 30 people in theatre style. 

MacRobert Room Business Centre
Privacy & Efficiency
Oak-panelled and book-lined, the MacRobert Room Business Centre offers the privacy and peace of a refined, traditional study, whilst being fully-equipped with the very latest IT and office facilities.

Fully-Equipped
This resource offers: two ergonomically-designed workstations; comfortable office-chairs; two PCs and broadband internet connections; two telephones; fax; printer; scanner and photocopying facility, as well as a selection of stationery. The Centre’s equipment is fully supported by experienced IT Staff.

Easily Accessible
Tranquil and entirely self-contained, the Business Centre is conveniently located for all main conference rooms and has lift access to all floors.
